By Counselor Hisham Rashid Heikal to Coptic Solidarity

Editor’s Note: Coptic Solidarity recently published an article titled Hisham Heikal: Counselor Facing Punitive Measures by Egyptian Government for Opposing Discrimination Against Coptic Colleague

Counselor Hisham Heikal

I held the position of Public Prosecutor at the Administrative Prosecution Authority, and was dismissed after being accused of defending the right of a qualified Christian female counselor to assume the post of President of the Administrative Prosecution Authority. I posted several pertinent videos on YouTube shedding light on the matter, including a lecture entitled “Judges: between Dismissal and Immunity”, which was posted on Al Insan Channel. I also addressed the issue in a program entitled “Legitimate Rights”, on Al Tariq Channel.

Given the fact that I took legal action three years ago to appeal the decision to terminate my employment, and that the courts have yet to issue a verdict, I would like to authorize the Organization(Coptic Solidarity) to take the appropriate legal measures, according to the provisions of International Law, and in line with the international conventions ratified by the Egyptian government

I sincerely appreciate your help with this matter.

Best Regards,
Hisham Rashid Heikal, Ph.D.

I am glad to see that “Coptic Solidarity “ has become divorced from American politics. That should make it much more credible internationally and in Egypt. This was not the case in the past; some of its members were known to back a certain American political party, often blindly. In my view, political independence is a prerequisite for the Organization to be more credible and effective in achieving the goal of achieving equality
