Coptic Solidarity president, Caroline Doss Esq., will be participating at an event in New York City this Friday, October 13th titled : Protect the Girl Child: Combat Slavery and Stem Kidnapping, Trafficking, Forced Marriage and Religious Conversions of Underage Girls and Women Confirmation.
Fifty million people were living in modern slavery in 2021 according to UN Migration Global Estimates of Modern Slavery, with 22 million of them trapped in forced marriage.
This hybrid Third Committee parallel event is being hosted during the UN General Assembly 78 with participation of the UN Special Rapporteur on Slavery, Tomoya Obokata. The event is a joint initiative of like-minded organizations working to protect and save women who are targeted for modern slavery through abduction, forced conversion, and forced marriage.
Partner organizations include Jubilee Campaign USA, Set my People Free to Worship, Voice for Justice, Christian Freedom International, Aid the Church in Need, and Coptic Solidarity.
