By Coptic Solidarity

Coptic Solidarity launched a global campaign earlier this week to create greater awareness of the abduction, forced conversion, abuse, and forced marriage of Coptic women in Egypt. Despite the disappearance of many hundreds of girls over the decades, the Egyptian authorities haven’t done anything to prosecute the culprits and to stop these crimes against the indigenous Coptic women of Egypt.

It is not enough for the Egyptian authorities to return disappeared women on occasion— when they get negative media attention. Much more is necessary, as Coptic Solidarity identified in our recent report, Hidden Crimes, Public Deception: The Epidemic of Abductions and Forced Disappearance of Coptic Women and Girls. (pages 21-23). The indigenous Copts, and indeed all religious minorities, must be protected and afforded equal citizenship rights in their own country.

To make a real difference, we need Copts & their supporters worldwide to join together in speaking out & advocating for the protection and return of missing Coptic women. Please sign the petition today and share with your network to help gather many more signatures!

We also have an Arabic version of the petition which can be signed here.
