Background on Case No.173 – the “foreign funding case” – Imminent Risk of Prosecution and Closure
The Egyptian judiciary has coordinated accusations and cases against the leading human rights NGOs in Egypt which may result in their imminent closure. It appears this is an effort to prevent these entities from documenting human rights abuses and providing accountability to the Egyptian government.
