Copts celebrate June 1 as Global Coptic Day, a deeply cherished occasion for the Christians of Egypt, commemorating the visit of the Holy Family to Egypt and the blessing they bestowed upon its land.
More than two thousand years after that sacred visit, the Egyptian state appears to be planning to seize the churches and monasteries that were visited by the Holy Family.
We appeal to Christians the world over and to the international community to protect this religious heritage from the control of the Islamic state in Egypt. This is a Coptic and Christian heritage, not an Islamic one…
