The first court session in the State Security case against Said Mansour Rizq Abdel Razek, also known as “Said Abu Mostafa,” was held on Tuesday April 21 before the competent criminal court in Cairo. 

The case, registered under No. 5664 of 2025 (State Security investigations) and No. 3934 of 2026 (Nasr City Third State Security Felonies), opened with a procedural hearing, during which the court did not address the substance of the charges but focused on ensuring the defense team’s ability to exercise its legal rights. 

The defendant was represented by a legal defense team including the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR) and the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms (ECRF), as well the office of Cassation lawyer Saeed Fayez

Charges Filed by the Prosecution

The Public Prosecution has brought multiple charges against the defendant, most notably:

  • Establishing and leading a group in violation of the law
  • Joining a group allegedly founded unlawfully
  • Financing such a group
  • Promoting ideas and beliefs deemed harmful to national unity and social peace
  • Showing contempt for Islam and challenging its fundamental principles 

Defense Requests and Court Decision

During the session, the defense submitted several key motions, including requests to adjourn the proceedings in order to allow full review of the case file repare a comprehensive legal defense and summon prosecution witnesses for examination before the court

At the conclusion of the hearing, the court granted the adjournment, postponing the case to June 15, 2026, to allow the defense time to review the case materials, prepare its arguments, and pursue its requests.
