Enclosed is a recap of Coptic girls and women who were “disappeared” in Egypt, so far in 2024.

It was compiled by a researcher based in Egypt, using publicly available information.

This year to date, no less than 20 cases are known. In many cases, the “disappeared” persons were “returned” reasonably quickly, thanks to pressures by families and the public opinion expressed on social media. However, there are never cases where the culprits (luring or outright kidnapping) were held accountable by the police/state security; to the contrary, families are often requested to keep quiet.

The phenomena of disappeared Coptic girls and women in Egypt has been going on for many years, with a noticeable increase in the past few years. Clearly, it is well-organized and well-financed, and often with the support the complicity of the public authorities.
