“I fear walking in the town streets, and the situation is very dangerous.” Such are the words spoken by Priest Yoanes Shawky to International Christian Concern, in a new Arabic report titled “We have not seen the violence against Egypt’s Christians in centuries.”

According to Topic News “Most Christians around Egypt share the same sentiment after attacks against them increased because of their participation in the demonstrations that lead to Morsi’s ousting. Revenge against Christians includes the looting and burning of their homes, churches, schools, and companies; this is in addition to the abduction of, and threats to, individuals in the town of Delga in Upper Egypt.

Islamist gangs have held prisoners for the past two months, after seizing control of the town. Out of 120,000 Christian citizens living in the town of Delga, 15,000 are without protection.
