The Official Gazette, in issue No. 51 (Supplement D), dated 23 December 2025, published the lists of churches and service buildings whose legal status had previously been regularized by a decision of the Churches Legalization Committee التابعة to the Council of Ministers, issued on 5 October.
Father Mikhail Anton, Vice Chairman of the Cabinet’s Committee for the Legalization of Church Statuses, said in a statement to Watani that the decision included 160 churches and affiliated buildings, bringing the total number of churches and buildings whose status has been legalized since the committee began its work in 2017 to 3,613 churches and buildings.
This comes one year after the issuance of the previous decision, which legalized 293 churches and service buildings, dated 21 October 2024.
Youssef Talaat, legal adviser to the Evangelical Church and its legal representative before the Churches Legalization Committee, stated that the lists of churches and service buildings published in the Official Gazette included 50 churches and service buildings belonging to the Evangelical denomination. Talaat added that the churches and buildings were distributed as follows:
- Orthodox Church: 103 churches and buildings
- Evangelical Church: 50 churches and buildings
- Catholic Church: 6 churches and buildings
- Greek Orthodox: 1 church
