The Islamic State reportedly detonated the convent belonging to the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena on the morning of November 5.

According to the Assyrian Monitor for Human Rights, this latest attack by the “caliphate” occurred in Tel Keppe—“Hill of Stones”—one of the largest historically Assyrian Christian towns in northern Iraq, inthe Ninawa Governorate, about 8 miles northeast of Mosul

The explosion of the convent caused considerable damage to adjacent buildings.

This is the latest assault on a Christian building since the Islamic State took over the predominantly Christian village in August, 2014. Among other attacks on Christian buildings and symbols, the soldiers of Muhammad removed and desecrated the crosses from the highest church dome, that belonging to the Christ Heart Church on September 8, 2014, and bombed the Virgin Mary Church on March 2015.
