Ezzat Ibrahim, director of al-Kalima Center for Human rights in Minya told MCN, “Copts of Al-Galaa and Al-Amodan villages were attacked in two separate incidents. The first incident was committed at 5 pm, when Mahmoud M. Foly N, Mahmoud A and Ihab S. attacked Saeed Abduallah and Afify Farahat.”

Copts were injured in their heads, he added, after they were targeted by those who wanted to take “revenge” for the construction of a village church.

He added that villagers of Al-Amodan were surprised that a number of cars of Muslims of Al-Galaa village attacked a wedding ceremony of Copts of Al-Amodan, resulted in destruction of a car and injury of three Copts.

A villager from Al-Amodan told MCN, “Muslims from Al-Galaa village attempted to harass a Coptic girl three days ago, but villagers rescued her from harassers. Then, they used a number of villagers of Al-Galaa, including relatives of mayor of village, to take revenge from Copts of Al-Amodan.” He mentioned that the mayor of Al-Galaa village seeks to end the crisis through reconciliation to prevent mentioning his name in the attack.
