The Coptic priest told MCN the Church bought the house from a Christian citizen in order to build a school to serve both Muslim and Christian residents of the city. He clarified that they work to take the legal measures to obtain the licenses from the education authorities in this regard.
“The church was surprised that a Muslim local would demolish a 300-meter section of the house,” Fr. Hana stated. “We submitted a complaint to the police station to refer him to the prosecution, though he claimed in the beginning that his mother owned the house and he was merely obtaining his share.”
“The Muslim local returned with thugs on Wednesday to demolish the wall of the building, again taking 300-meters. He then established another wall around it to pave the way for erecting a house.”
“Security forces have no intervened to stop this aggression,” Fr. Hana added.
The Coptic cleric stressed the need for suspending the series of attacks that targeted the possessions of Copts, as a Muslim attempted to attack a house next to the bishopric. He added that the problem was resolved through holding a customary session, demanding the implementation of the law
