Al-Azhar Professor of (religious) Interpretation, Sheikh Abdullah Badr, attacked those opposed to Islamic Sharia implementation and threatened them with “cutting their tongues.”  Sheikh Badr is currently on trial for libel and defamation of Egyptian artist Elham Shahin.

His statement was made during a religious TV program on a satellite channel in which Badr said “We will cut the tongue of any dog who mocks Sharia Law or Islam.”

Badr attacked all those who oppose Sharia law, saying: “God described those as dogs who are always panting, so I will cut the tongue of any infringer on Sharia or Islam.”

Badr added, ” the time of insulting Islam, when we were ruled by the ungodly and immoral man, is over.” He added “people who believe in falsehoods defend their beliefs and we will defend our religion, no matter the cost. It’s better for the world to burn than for Islam to be mocked.
