On Tuesday, September 30, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptians Abroad, received Dr. Nazir Ayad, the Grand Mufti of the Republic.
Minister Abdel Aaty praised the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dar al-Ifta, noting the coordination between Egyptian embassies abroad and the institution, as well as the commitment to making all necessary arrangements related to the Grand Mufti’s international engagements. He emphasized the importance of showcasing Egypt’s experience in promoting moderate Islam and balanced religious discourse, while also confronting religious extremism and intellectual radicalism.
The Minister further stressed the importance of continuing coordination between Dar al-Ifta and Egyptian missions abroad through organizing lectures and seminars delivered by the Grand Mufti for Egyptian communities overseas. These efforts, he said, would help strengthen cultural and religious identity, while also highlighting the key role Dar al-Ifta can play in enhancing Egypt’s image and principles—particularly moderation, centrism, and peaceful coexistence.
Minister Abdel Aaty underlined the distinguished intellectual and religious standing of the Grand Mufti, commending his role in building bridges of understanding between peoples and cultures. Such contributions, the Minister affirmed, support Egyptian diplomacy’s mission to foster dialogue and entrench values of justice, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, while countering extremist rhetoric.
