NYT: Morsi’s Opponents Describe Abuse by President’s Allies

Islamist supporters of President Mohamed Morsi captured, detained and beat dozens of his political opponents last week, holding them for hours with their hands bound on the pavement outside the presidential palace while pressuring them to confess that they had accepted money to use violence in protests against him.

U.S. Government Advisory Body Concerned by Draft Egyptian Constitution

The Egyptian Constituent Assembly on November 30 approved a draft constitution that includes problematic provisions limiting freedom of religion or belief for all Egyptians.

“The constitution was drafted without a balanced representation of all the Egyptian constituencies; as a result the religious freedom provisions of the draft constitution are deeply flawed.

Copt Jailed for Blasphemy in Egypt

An Egyptian Copt arrested on suspicion of posting online an anti-Islam film that ignited Muslim protests around the world was sentenced on Wednesday to three years in prison, a court source said

Computer science graduate Alber Saber, 27, was arrested at his Cairo home on September 13 after neighbors accused him of uploading sections of the film "Innocence of Muslims" and making another movie mocking all religions.

US Egyptian Christians Fear for Faith Under Morsi’s Islamist Agenda

It seems like every Sunday, there's a new face sitting in the pews of the Church of Saint Verena and the Three Holy Youth in Orange, Calif. Most are young professionals or families with small children and some have been living in the United States for a just few weeks.

"The first waves of immigration," said Bishop Serapion of the Coptic Diocese of Los Angeles, Southern California and Hawaii.

These worshippers are Egyptian Christians, better known as Copts. Their church is Coptic Orthodox, the largest Christian church in Egypt and the Middle East with services similar to other Christian faiths. They perform sacraments like the Catholics and recite prayers many faithful Americans would recognize, including "Our Father" and "Hail Mary." Mass is spoken in a mix of English, Arabic and the ancient Coptic language.

Victims of Islamists Attack During Cairo Protests Speaks Out

Two Coptic victims, among many people who were attacked by Islamists during the recent demonstrations outside the presidential palace, spoke to MCN.

Pharmacist Ramy Sabri gave the details of his 16 hour long tragic imprisonment by the Muslim Brotherhood militias during the demonstrations outside the presidential palace on Wednesday.

When he was apprehended by the militias Sabri was treating the injured.

Sabri said that he was with his colleague Ola el-Shahba from the Popular Current, treating the injured when the militias attacked them.
